Fishing at Estancia Cameron Lodge
With private access to over 90 miles of the Rio Grande, as well as privately owned Lake Lynch, several Lagunas with huge resident Browns and over 50 miles of smaller rivers and Spring Creeks, this operation offers a unique and world class fishing product.
Each day when fishing the Rio Grande River you will visit a new location. The fact that the river is privately owned offers the security of always fishing in complete solitude, just between guanacos, beavers, sheep, cattle and the abundant birds and other wildlife. There are plenty of wonderful pools where you can catch the fish of your life.
The river is surrounded by low hills that offer not only a very interesting landscape but at times can provide an excellent shelter from the wind.
At the Estancia Cameron Lodge we will mainly concentrate our fishing efforts on the large Sea Run Browns. Typically this is not fast fishing and anglers often have to work hard for these huge trout. On some days we can visit many of the other waters on the Estancia to fish for resident browns and rainbows that can reach large sizes.
As the Sea runs are most active in low light conditions we will suggest a fishing schedule that begins very early in the morning with an afternoon siesta and a return to the water late in the evening. For those wishing to fish at night, here in Chile as opposed to Argentina, it is legal to do so and some amazing catches can be had after dark.
All of the fishing is done by walking and wading. Currents are slow, the banks are open and deep wading is generally not necessary. The other small rivers, lakes and lagunas nearby are also easy to wade. Our four wheel drive trucks will put us close to the best places to fish on the river, so when wading you can travel light with a minimum of gear.
